Yesterday I went out to dinner with my Godmother, I had started a conversation about God and people in need. I am a Vincentian, and what that means is that I am part of the Catholic ley organization called St. Vincent de Paul. I was talking to her about how people who come in the pantry for food and people who request assistance don't come to Church. When you look at them you see the need in them right away, your heart breaks and you try to hold back the hard feelings when you see people come in with their families and get food. Not only are they embarrassed when they see someone they know working the pantry but they don't want to be there.
The people come in and they ask for help, they ask where God is during this tough time and yes, they even put the blame on Him. What people fail to realize is that God is always with them, He is there for you. You just need to see him and realize it is him. Go to Church, adoration or just pray at home when you get the chance. God is always there for you.
One of my favorite stories is about the man drowning:
A man was in a boat in the ocean and it capsized. He prayed to the Lord and said "SAVE ME!" Just after he was done praying a helicopter came and dropped their rope. "I can't! I can't" the drowning man told them, "The Lord is going to save me!!" The helicopter flew away. He prayed again "SAVE ME!" Just as he was done a Giant cruise ship spotted him and they sent out a rescue boat. "Grab on and climb in!" the Captain said. " I can't I can't, The Lord is coming to save me!!" The boat drove away. "Finally a rescue crew made their way to him and tried to save him. "GRAB ON! WE ARE HERE TO HELP YOU!"
"I CAN'T! I CAN'T! THE LORD WILL SAVE ME!!!" Gasping for air the man quickly died. When he had made his way to Heaven and he saw God, he yelled "WHY DIDN'T YOU SAVE ME!!" The Lord answered him "I sent THREE people after you! Did you not think it was me sending you help like you had asked me?"
